Before the lockdown, the COVID Buzzer was extensively tested at the Johan Cruijff ArenA Tour. Even when the stadium doors reopen, the COVID Buzzer will contribute to safe tour attendance during times of COVID-19. The buzzer is a device that vibrates and flashes when someone comes within 1.5 meters of it based on Ultra-Wideband technology. An innovation that can also contribute to safe attendance at games and concerts.

One and a half meters distance: sometimes it can be difficult to estimate the correct distance. To help visitors, KPN and Advanced Solutions Nederland (ASN) have developed the COVID Buzzer. The Johan Cruijff ArenA is using this innovation to give visitors a safe tour of the ArenA. If someone stands too close to another visitor or staff member during the tour, the buzzer will go off. If that person is again at the correct distance, the buzzer will stop again.
In the COVID Buzzer there is a so-called Ultra Wide Band Sensor that is connected to the network. Compared to bluetooth, this allows you to determine where someone is much more precisely and quickly. The buzzers communicate with each other and thus monitor the distance of one and a half meters. The COVID Buzzer is also completely anonymous so the privacy of the visitor is guaranteed. The KPN COVID Buzzer is not only useful for the visitor. The data collected by the buzzer provides insight into where the distance rules are most at risk. The ArenA can therefore immediately make adjustments to improve the situation.
