At the September 12, 2019 KPN Event, collaboration was the focus. In particular with regard to 5GThe next industrial revolution is inextricably linked to 5G. Advanced Solutions Netherlands was one of the speakers.
We are a proud partner of KPN 5G Network. KPN is the largest telecom company in the Netherlands. Also in 2021, KPN has the fastest 5G network in the Netherlands.
There is a close cooperation between KPN and its OEM partners like Advanced Solutions Nederland. The 5G ecosystem requires cooperation and openness to partners. We are active in Smart Industry in various field labs. Here, the manufacturing industry sees the possibilities of wireless factories and use cases that make them possible. This makes KPN a real enabler for the smart industry. So it can provide our customers with concrete support in their digital transformation.
Why 5G?
Advantages of 5G are:
- Super fast connection
- Shorter response times in communication
- Higher reliability, much higher uptime of the network
- Higher capacity: far more devices can be connected. One million devices per square kilometer, a more secure connection ánd the ability to prioritize certain processes and applications.
Thus, 5G enables innovations in areas such as augmented reality, Internet of Things, self-driving vehicles and Industry 4.0, Drones, self-driving vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI), edge computing. All these fantastic technologies are already available, but are still waiting for next-level connectivity to be applied more widely in business. The new network technology 5G brings it all together thanks to its unique advantages. 5G will therefore bring about a true digital revolution in sectors such as agriculture, transport, manufacturing, healthcare and entertainment.
5G will therefore become a catalyst for inventing and realizing new, revolutionary applications in the field of data-driven business. If you want to remain competitive as an entrepreneur or respond to the latest developments as an organization, it is important to orient yourself now to the possibilities of 5G.
KPN Fieldlabs: How 5G works in the real world
The national rollout of 5G has only just started, but KPN has been testing 5G for useful applications in its FieldLabs for some time.
The 5G field lab for the manufacturing industry shows everyone which 5G indoor use cases are possible in a factory environment. Besides speed, 5G also enables larger reliability and very low network latency. A large numbers of wireless sensors also plays an important role in the further rollout of the IoT. Thus, the 5G Field Labs shows that 5G can be used for very different applications simultaneously.
There are currently five FieldLabs. Advanced Solutions Nederland is involved in 3:
1. In Amsterdam, KPN is investigating, together with the municipality of Amsterdam and the Johan Cruijff ArenA, how 5G can make living, working and recreation in the city more enjoyable and safer.
2. At Shell Pernis, 5G is used for robots and helmets that make work even safer and more efficient through predictive maintenance and remote monitoring.
3. High Tech Campus Eindhoven
High Tech Campus Eindhoven: Brainport Industries Campus for smart industries
KPN has opened the Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) in Eindhoven. The lab is aimed at 5G in manufacturing. Together with the BIC, KPN sets up targeted Smart Industry projects. These projects use the new generation of mobile network technology. Here, companies test 5G in a representative environment. This includes the 3.5GHz frequency, which is ideally to test high-bandwith uses.
Furthermore, KPN combines 5G indoors with Ultrawideband. UWB is used to track objects on the factory floor and in warehouses in real time. Their position can be determined with up to thirty centimeters accuracy, and often even more accurately. The rollout of Internet of Things is getting a boost. So factories are becoming completely wireless at an increasing rate.
